Fangoria // Social Media

After coming onto the FANGORIA account and aligning on brand playbooks and a new tone, the initial goal was to then shape each channel accordingly. Facebook would be focused on behind-the-scenes images and videos of classic movies, from our world-class vault. Instagram would become a horror fan’s dream account, featuring never-before-seen stills and exclusive longform video content (using the new-at-the-time IGTV).

Twitter, however, was where our talents truly showed, with the opportunity to be flexible and conversational in real time. By texting a tiny group of three people to make decisions quickly, we would immediately jump on trends (within minutes / hours of something taking the internet by storm) and, thus, was able to increase both the following and engagement on the account nearly two-fold over a year.

Here are some of the best examples of that work, which are all silly, but all contain an ounce of brand truth: that FANGORIA knows horror better than anyone on the internet.

And of course, moments like “FURGORIA” and #WhereIsTheReds” were lightning-in-a-bottle reactions to the internet, which were then capitalized to increase sales immediately, and create a community that shared a voice and inside jokes with each other. Some of our proudest work:
